1And Solomonthe sonof Davidwas strengthenedin his kingdom, and the LORDhis God was with him, and magnifiedhim exceedingly. 2Then Solomonspakeunto all Israel, to the captainsof thousandsand of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governorin all Israel, the chiefof the fathers. 3So Solomon, and all the congregationwith him, wentto the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacleof the congregationof God, which Mosesthe servantof the LORDhad madein the wilderness. 4Butthe arkof Godhad Davidbrought upfrom Kirjath-jearim to the place which Davidhad preparedfor it: for he had pitcheda tentfor it at Jerusalem. 5Moreover the brasenaltar, that Bezaleelthe sonof Uri, the sonof Hur, had made, he putbeforethe tabernacleof the LORD: and Solomonand the congregationsought unto it. 6And Solomonwent upthither to the brasenaltarbeforethe LORD, which was at the tabernacleof the congregation, and offereda thousandburnt offerings upon it.
7In that nightdid Godappearunto Solomon, and saidunto him, Askwhat I shall give thee. 8And Solomonsaidunto God, Thou hast shewedgreatmercyunto Davidmy father, and hast made me to reign in his stead. 9Now, O LORDGod, let thy promiseunto Davidmy fatherbe established: for thou hast made me kingover a peoplelike the dustof the earthin multitude. 10Giveme now wisdomand knowledge, that I may go outand come inbeforethis people: for who can judgethis thy people, that is so great? 11And Godsaidto Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not askedriches, wealth, or honour, nor the lifeof thine enemies, neither yet hast askedlonglife; but hast askedwisdomand knowledgefor thyself, that thou mayest judgemy people, over whom I have made thee king: 12Wisdomand knowledge is grantedunto thee; and I will givethee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been beforethee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13Then Solomoncame from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeonto Jerusalem, from beforethe tabernacleof the congregation, and reignedover Israel. 14And Solomongatheredchariotsand horsemen: and he had a thousandand fourhundredchariots, and twelvethousandhorsemen, which he placedin the chariotcities, and with the kingat Jerusalem. 15And the kingmadesilverand goldat Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar treesmadehe as the sycomore trees that are in the valefor abundance. 16And Solomonhad horsesbroughtout of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’smerchantsreceivedthe linen yarnat a price. 17And they fetched up, and brought forthout of Egypta chariotfor sixhundred shekels of silver, and an horsefor an hundredand fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kingsof the Hittites, and for the kingsof Syria, by their means.
