1Yet now hear, O Jacobmy servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen: 2Thus saiththe LORDthat madethee, and formedthee from the womb, which will helpthee; Fearnot, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen. 3For I will pourwaterupon him that is thirsty, and floodsupon the dry ground: I will pourmy spiritupon thy seed, and my blessingupon thine offspring: 4And they shall spring up as amongthe grass, as willowsby the watercourses. 5One shall say, I am the LORD’s; and another shall call himself by the nameof Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his handunto the LORD, and surname himself by the nameof Israel. 6Thus saiththe LORDthe Kingof Israel, and his redeemerthe LORDof hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. 7And who, as I, shall call, and shall declareit, and set it in orderfor me, since I appointedthe ancientpeople? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. 8Fearye not, neither be afraid: have not I toldthee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is therea Godbeside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
9They that makea graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable thingsshall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they seenot, nor know; that they may be ashamed. 10Who hath formeda god, or moltena graven image that is profitablefor nothing?
11Behold, all his fellowsshall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamedtogether. 12The smithwith the tongsboth workethin the coals, and fashionethit with hammers, and workethit with the strengthof his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strengthfaileth: he drinkethno water, and is faint. 13The carpenterstretcheth out his rule; he marketh it outwith a line; he fittethit with planes, and he marketh it outwith the compass, and makethit after the figureof a man, according to the beautyof a man; that it may remainin the house. 14He heweth him downcedars, and takeththe cypressand the oak, which he strengthenethfor himself among the treesof the forest: he plantethan ash, and the raindoth nourish it. 15Then shall it be for a manto burn: for he will takethereof, and warmhimself; yea, he kindleth it, and bakethbread; yea, he maketha god, and worshippeth it; he makethit a graven image, and falleth down thereto. 16He burnethpartthereof inthe fire; with partthereof he eatethflesh; he roastethroast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seenthe fire: 17And the residuethereof he maketha god, even his graven image: he falleth downunto it, and worshippeth it, and prayethunto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.
18They have not knownnor understood: for he hath shuttheir eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand. 19And none considerethin his heart, neither is there knowledgenor understandingto say, I have burnedpartof it inthe fire; yea, also I have bakedbreadupon the coalsthereof; I have roastedflesh, and eaten it: and shall I makethe residuethereof an abomination? shall I fall downto the stockof a tree? 20He feedethon ashes: a deceivedhearthath turned him aside, that he cannot deliverhis soul, nor say, Is there not a liein my right hand?
21Rememberthese, O Jacoband Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me. 22I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: returnunto me; for I have redeemed thee. 23Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORDhath done it: shout, ye lower partsof the earth: break forthinto singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every treetherein: for the LORDhath redeemedJacob, and glorifiedhimself in Israel.
24Thus saiththe LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formedthee from the womb, I am the LORDthat maketh all things; that stretcheth forththe heavensalone; that spreadeth abroadthe earth by myself; 25That frustrateththe tokensof the liars, and maketh divinersmad; that turnethwise men backward, and maketh their knowledgefoolish; 26That confirmeththe wordof his servant, and performeththe counselof his messengers; that saithto Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the citiesof Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise upthe decayed places thereof: 27That saithto the deep, Be dry, and I will dry upthy rivers: 28That saithof Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall performall my pleasure: even sayingto Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
