Thus saiththe LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the housethat ye build unto me? and where is the placeof my rest? 2 For all those things hath mine handmade, and all those things have been, saiththe LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poorand of a contritespirit, and tremblethat my word.
He that killethan ox is as if he slewa man; he that sacrificetha lamb, as if he cut offa dog’sneck; he that offerethan oblation, as if he offered swine’sblood; he that burnethincense, as if he blessedan idol. Yea, they have chosentheir own ways, and their souldelightethin their abominations.
I also will choosetheir delusions, and will bringtheir fearsupon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they didevilbefore mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.
Hearthe wordof the LORD, ye that trembleat his word; Your brethrenthat hatedyou, that cast you outfor my name’ssake, said, Let the LORDbe glorified: but he shall appearto your joy, and they shall be ashamed. 6A voiceof noisefrom the city, a voicefrom the temple, a voiceof the LORDthat renderethrecompenceto his enemies. 7Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her paincame, she was deliveredof a man child. 8Who hath heardsuch a thing? who hath seensuch things? Shall the earthbe made to bring forthin oneday? or shall a nationbe bornat once? for as soon asZiontravailed, she brought forthher children. 9Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saiththe LORD: shall Icause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saiththy God.
Rejoiceye with Jerusalem, and be gladwith her, all ye that loveher: rejoicefor joywith her, all ye that mourn for her: 11That ye may suck, and be satisfiedwith the breastsof her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delightedwith the abundanceof her glory.
For thus saiththe LORD, Behold, I will extendpeaceto her like a river, and the gloryof the Gentileslike a flowingstream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. 13As onewhom his mothercomforteth, so will I comfortyou; and ye shall be comfortedin Jerusalem. 14And when ye see this, your heartshall rejoice, and your bonesshall flourishlike an herb: and the handof the LORDshall be knowntoward his servants, and his indignationtoward his enemies.
For, behold, the LORDwill comewith fire, and with his chariotslike a whirlwind, to renderhis angerwith fury, and his rebukewith flamesof fire. 16For by fireand by his swordwill the LORDpleadwith all flesh: and the slainof the LORDshall be many. 17They that sanctifythemselves, and purifythemselves in the gardensbehindone tree in the midst, eating swine’sflesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumedtogether, saiththe LORD.
For I know their worksand their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gatherall nationsand tongues; and they shall come, and seemy glory. 19And I will seta signamong them, and I will sendthose that escapeof them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that drawthe bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the islesafar off, that have not heardmy fame, neither have seenmy glory; and they shall declaremy gloryamong the Gentiles. 20And they shall bringall your brethren for an offeringunto the LORDout of all nationsupon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holymountainJerusalem, saiththe LORD, as the childrenof Israelbringan offeringin a cleanvesselinto the houseof the LORD. 21And I will also takeof them for priests and for Levites, saiththe LORD.
For as the newheavensand the newearth, which I will make, shall remainbeforeme, saiththe LORD, so shall your seedand your nameremain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that fromone new moonto another, and fromone sabbathto another, shall all fleshcometo worshipbeforeme, saiththe LORD. 24And they shall go forth, and lookupon the carcasesof the menthat have transgressedagainst me: for their wormshall not die, neither shall their firebe quenched; and they shall be an abhorringunto all flesh.
