4I thankmyGodalwaysonyourbehalf, forthe graceof Godwhich isgivenyoubyJesusChrist; 5Thatinevery thingye are enrichedbyhim, inallutterance, and in allknowledge; 6Even asthe testimonyof Christwas confirmedinyou: 7So thatyecome behindinnogift; waiting forthe comingof ourLordJesusChrist: 8Who shallalsoconfirmyouuntothe end, that ye may be blamelessinthe dayof ourLordJesusChrist. 9God is faithful, bywhomye were calleduntothe fellowshipof hisSonJesusChristourLord.
10NowI beseechyou, brethren, bythe nameof ourLordJesusChrist, thatyeallspeakthe same thing, and that there benodivisionsamongyou; but that ye beperfectly joined togetherinthe samemindandinthe samejudgment. 11Forit hath been declaredunto meofyou, mybrethren, bythem which are of the house of Chloe, thatthere arecontentionsamongyou. 12NowthisI say, thatevery oneof yousaith, Iamof Paul; andIof Apollos; andIof Cephas; andIof Christ. 13IsChristdivided? wasPaulcrucifiedforyou? orwere ye baptizedinthe nameof Paul? 14I thankGodthatI baptizednoneof you, butCrispusandGaius; 15Lestanyshould saythatI had baptizedinmine ownname. 16AndI baptizedalsothe householdof Stephanas: besides, I knownotwhetherI baptizedanyother.
17ForChristsentmenotto baptize, butto preach the gospel: notwithwisdomof words, lestthe crossof Christshould be made of none effect. 18Forthe preachingof the crossisto themthat perishfoolishness; butunto uswhich are savedit isthe powerof God. 19Forit is written, I will destroythe wisdomof the wise, andwill bring to nothingthe understandingof the prudent. 20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputerof thisworld? hath notGodmade foolishthe wisdomof thisworld? 21Forafter thatinthe wisdomof Godthe worldbywisdomknewnotGod, it pleasedGodbythe foolishnessof preachingto savethemthat believe. 22Forthe Jewsrequirea sign, andthe Greeksseekafter wisdom: 23ButwepreachChristcrucified, unto the Jewsa stumblingblock, andunto the Greeksfoolishness; 24Butunto themwhichare called, bothJewsandGreeks, Christthe powerof God, andthe wisdomof God. 25Becausethe foolishnessof Godiswiserthan men; andthe weaknessof Godisstrongerthan men.
26Forye seeyourcalling, brethren, how thatnotmanywise menafterthe flesh, notmanymighty, notmanynoble, are called: 27ButGodhath chosenthe foolish thingsof the worldtoconfoundthe wise; andGodhath chosenthe weak thingsof the worldtoconfoundthe thingswhich are mighty; 28Andbase thingsof the world, andthingswhich are despised, hathGodchosen, yea, andthingswhich arenot, tobring to noughtthingsthat are: 29Thatnofleshshould gloryinhispresence. 30ButofhimareyeinChristJesus, whoofGodis madeunto uswisdom, andrighteousness, andsanctification, andredemption: 31That, according asit is written, Hethat glorieth, let him gloryinthe Lord.
