3Blessed be God, eventhe Fatherof ourLordJesusChrist, the Fatherof mercies, andthe Godof allcomfort; 4Whocomfortethusinallourtribulation, that wemay be abletocomfortthemwhich areinanytrouble, bythe comfort wherewithwe ourselvesare comfortedofGod. 5Forasthe sufferingsof Christaboundinus, soourconsolationalsoaboundethbyChrist. 6Andwhetherwe be afflicted, it is foryourconsolationandsalvation, whichis effectualinthe enduringof the samesufferingswhichwealsosuffer: or whetherwe be comforted, it is foryourconsolationandsalvation. 7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, thatasye arepartakersof the sufferings, so shall ye be alsoof the consolation.
8Forwe wouldnot, brethren, haveyouignorantofourtroublewhich cameto usinAsia, thatwe were pressedoutof measure, abovestrength, insomuch thatwedespairedevenof life: 9Butwehadthe sentenceof deathinourselves, thatwe shouldnottrustinourselves, butinGodwhichraiseththe dead: 10Whodeliveredusfromso greata death, anddoth deliver: inwhomwe trustthathe willyetdeliver us; 11Yealsohelping togetherby prayerforus, thatfor the gift bestowed uponusby the means ofmanypersonsthanks may be givenbymanyonour behalf. 12Forourrejoicingisthis, the testimonyof ourconscience, thatinsimplicityandgodlysincerity, notwithfleshlywisdom, butbythe graceof God, we have had our conversationinthe world, andmore abundantlytoyou-ward.
13Forwe writenoneother thingsunto you, thanwhatye readoracknowledge; andI trustye shall acknowledgeeventothe end; 14Asalsoye have acknowledgedusinpart, thatwe areyourrejoicing, even asyealso are oursinthe dayof the LordJesus. 15Andin thisconfidenceI was mindedto comeuntoyoubefore, thatye might havea secondbenefit; 16Andto passbyyouintoMacedonia, andto comeagainout ofMacedoniauntoyou, andofyouto be brought on my waytowardJudaea. 17When I thereforewasthusminded, didI uselightness? orthe thingsthat I purpose, do I purposeaccording tothe flesh, thatwithmethere should beyeayea, andnaynay?
18But as God is true, ourwordtowardyouwasnotyeaandnay. 19Forthe Sonof God, JesusChrist, whowas preachedamongyoubyus, even bymeandSilvanusandTimotheus, wasnotyeaandnay, butinhimwasyea. 20Forallthe promisesof Godinhim are yea, andinhimAmen, untothe gloryof Godbyus. 21Nowhe whichstablishethuswithyouinChrist, andhath anointedus, is God; 22Whohathalsosealedus, andgiventhe earnestof the Spiritinourhearts. 23MoreoverIcallGodfor a recorduponmysoul, thatto spareyouI camenot as yetuntoCorinth. 24Notfor thatwe have dominionover yourfaith, butarehelpersof yourjoy: forby faithye stand.
