5Andthere went outuntohimallthe landof Judæa, andthey of Jerusalem, andwereallbaptizedofhiminthe riverof Jordan, confessingtheirsins. 6AndJohnwasclothed withcamel’shair, andwith a girdleof a skinabouthisloins; andhe did eatlocustsandwildhoney; 7Andpreached, saying, There comethone mightier thanIafterme, the latchetof whoseshoesI amnotworthytostoop downand unloose. 8Iindeedhave baptizedyouwithwater: butheshall baptizeyouwiththeHolyGhost.
9Andit came to passinthosedays, that JesuscamefromNazarethof Galilee, andwas baptizedofJohninJordan. 10Andstraightwaycoming upout ofthe water, he sawthe heavensopened, andthe Spiritlikea dovedescendinguponhim: 11Andthere camea voicefromheaven, saying, ThouartmybelovedSon, inwhomI am well pleased.
12Andimmediatelythe Spiritdrivethhimintothe wilderness. 13Andhe wasthereinthe wildernessfortydays, temptedofSatan; andwaswiththe wild beasts; andthe angelsministeredunto him. 14Nowafter that Johnwas put in prison, JesuscameintoGalilee, preachingthe gospelof the kingdomof God, 15Andsaying, The timeis fulfilled, andthe kingdomof Godis at hand: repent ye, andbelievethe gospel. 16Nowas he walkedbythe seaof Galilee, he sawSimonandAndrewhisbrothercastinga netintothe sea: forthey werefishers. 17AndJesussaidunto them, Come yeafterme, andI will makeyouto becomefishersof men. 18Andstraightwaythey forsooktheirnets, and followedhim.

21Andthey wentintoCapernaum; andstraightwayon the sabbath dayhe enteredintothe synagogue, and taught. 22Andthey were astonishedathisdoctrine: forhetaughtthemasone that hadauthority, andnotasthe scribes. 23Andthere wasintheirsynagoguea manwithan uncleanspirit; andhe cried out, 24Saying, Let us alone; what havewe to dowiththee, thou Jesusof Nazareth? art thou cometo destroyus? I knowtheewhothou art, the Holy Oneof God. 25AndJesusrebukedhim, saying, Hold thy peace, andcome outofhim. 26Andwhenthe uncleanspirithad tornhim, andcriedwith a loudvoice, he came outofhim. 27Andthey wereallamazed, insomuch thatthey questionedamongthemselves, saying, Whatthing isthis? whatnewdoctrine is this? forwithauthoritycommandeth heeventhe uncleanspirits, andthey do obeyhim. 28Andimmediatelyhisfamespread abroadthroughoutallthe region round aboutGalilee.
29Andforthwith, when they were come outofthe synagogue, they enteredintothe houseof SimonandAndrew, withJamesandJohn. 30ButSimon’swife’s motherlaysick of a fever, andanonthey tellhimofher. 31Andhe cameand tookherby the hand, and liftedherup; andimmediatelythe feverlefther, andshe ministeredunto them. 32Andat even, whenthe sundidset, they broughtuntohimallthat werediseased, andthemthat were possessed with devils. 33Andallthe citywasgathered togetheratthe door. 34Andhe healedmanythat weresickof diversdiseases, andcast outmanydevils; andsufferednotthe devilsto speak, becausethey knewhim.
35Andin the morning, rising upa great whilebefore day, he went out, anddepartedintoa solitaryplace, and thereprayed. 36AndSimonandthey that werewithhimfollowed afterhim. 37Andwhen they had foundhim, they saidunto him, All men seek forthee. 38Andhe saidunto them, Let us gointothe nexttowns, thatI may preachthere also: forthereforecame I forth. 39AndhepreachedintheirsynagoguesthroughoutallGalilee, andcast outdevils.
40Andthere camea lepertohim, beseechinghim, andkneeling downto him, andsayingunto him, Ifthou wilt, thou canst makemeclean. 41AndJesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touchedhim, andsaithunto him, I will; be thou clean. 42Andas soon ashehad spoken, immediatelythe leprosydepartedfromhim, andhe was cleansed. 43Andhe straitly chargedhim, andforthwithsenthimaway; 44Andsaithunto him, Seethou saynothingto any man: butgo thy way, shewthyselfto the priest, andofferforthycleansingthose things whichMosescommanded, fora testimonyunto them. 45Buthe went out, and beganto publish it much, andto blaze abroadthe matter, insomuch thatJesuscouldno moreopenlyenterintothe city, butwaswithoutindesertplaces: andthey cametohimfrom every quarter.
